Car Market 2018: Black December!

This new misstep, which has already started to decline after three months (- 13% in September, – 2% in October, – 5% in November), brings the increase of the vintage 2018 to 3.4%, A good result in itself: With around 2.170 million new vehicles sold, the fifth year in a row is after the low of 2013 (1.8 million). However, the French market moved at a different pace until the summer (+ 6.3% at the end of July), suggesting a final harvest beyond 2.2 million sales. And if it keeps going up, it makes a leap: the increase was 4.7% in 2017.

Control context, social context

This sudden slowdown was announced. The madness of August (+ 40%), caused by massive sales to retailers without end customers, caused an influx of zero opportunities. And the fiscal environment, which does not favor cars, has given potential buyers some cause for concern. Added to this was the Yellow West uprising, which slowed trade at the end of the year, especially the auto business, as concessions often lie in the outskirts of cities, where carousels were blocked on the weekends. The End.
