Diesels PSA / Renault: the list of recurring mishaps since 2010

FAP contamination, injector failure, pump blockage

Oil, failure of the distribution … serious damage does not spare the engines dCi, especially the 1.5. Since 2015, the 1.6 and 2.0 dCi are hardly mentioned.

Renault 1.5 dCi engine

The 2001 K9K engine experienced many setbacks in the 2000s, with the seizure of the Delphi injection pump or toothed belt break (from 2009 to 2011) being the biggest success. With the appearance of the particulate filter in the Euro 6b versions (current year 2010), new anomalies have been identified. In particular, the recurrent fouling of the FAP and especially the deterioration of the low engine until 2013 due to the wear of the connecting rod bearings. Not to mention the injectors that make the soul until 2011 and stay sensitive after that date. Among the recent problems that have been identified: the leak of the cooler in Clio IV and Captur, which can lead to engine damage.

Damage to the engine 1.5 dCi Renault

Motor standstill until 24/08/11> Injectors.

Clap engine in slow motion and hot from 2009 to 2013 (Clio III, Kangoo II, Megane III, Scenic III, Modus, Logan, Sandero and Duster)> Connecting rod bearings.

motor Control (Mégane III and Scénic III)> Pressure sensor

Intake manifold.

Cold engine rigging, Smoke extraction, starting up to 28.05.13> Flow regulator.

Oil is running out on the intercooler until 17.07.13 (engine code "K9K 636" on Mégane III and Scénic III)> To be amended.

engine noise until 15/02/15 (Clio IV and Captur)> Distribution

and tension roller.

Lack of power, hard from 27.07.2015 (all models)> Exhaust flap.

overheating and engine breakage (Clio IV and Captur) as a result of microleakage of radiator> radiator or engine to be replaced.

Loss of coolant until 18/12/17 (Clio IV and Captur)> Lower the hose.

Pump stroke for the 1.5 dCi

Failure of the oil pump on the 1.5 dCi Renault engine

"Cancel Engine", this is the last major damage that was seen on block "K9K". Originally an oil leak and especially the blocking of the valve of the oil pump, which creates an overpressure in the oil filter and deforms it (see adjacent figure). The problem is not new as it concerns Clio II, Megane II, Scénic II … and Sandero I.

Nevertheless, Renault took the time to respond: Date of the factory changes 3. August 2017, Presumably, because this anomaly was coincidental and often appears after an outflow, a foreman. All vehicles are covered except for Captur, Mégane IV and Scénic IV, Talisman, Kadjar and Espace V.

Renault 1.6 dCi engine

Can not start, Engine noise until 01/07/12 (Mégane III and Scénic III) due to the extension of the distribution chain> Distribution Kit.

motor Control (Mégane III and Scénic III)> Intake manifold pressure sensor.

Lack of power, hard from 27.07.2015 (all models)> Exhaust flap.

Smell of fuel > Hose between pump and injection rail (corrective action "0CBW" in workshop since June 2017).

Renault 2.0 dCi engine

loss of power until 08/02/13 on Koleos I> heat exchanger and air intake.

instability, Vibration, "OBD" light on Koleos II until 10/07/17> Hose with oil vapor.
