Four years after its founding, PSA's premium manufacturer is gaining momentum with the launch of its new product line. After the DS7 Crossback in 2018, the DS3 Crossback follows, which will arrive at the concessions in the spring. But a premium brand that respects itself must have a limousine road worthy of the name. Internally referred to as X83 code, the DS8 will be presented at the Shanghai Motor Show marketed in Europe in April and late 2019.
Without leaving the Geneva Motor Show, DS did not opt for China. In fact, this large sedan (between 4,85 and 4,90 m in length) is manufactured exclusively by Changan (partner of PSA), as this market will be its main business. This also explains why the DS8 in China was surprised in the middle of a development meeting. Despite the camouflage, we find that the style of this sedan is classic and the front of the DS7 Crossback. At the rear, she takes a four-door coupe line with flying flag, while the rear Mercedes gives the wrong air. In the profile we notice the flush door handles but also that it does not benefit from doors without frames such as the European Peugeot 508.
In the cockpit, the community continues with the DS7 Crossback on the center console, in contrast to the touch screen, which is integrated in the dashboard under the aerators and is not designed as a touchpad. The DS8 will also provide SUV technologies, namely the driven suspension with camera, Night vision, the DS Connected Pilot (semi-autonomous driving) or the detection of fatigue by infrared cameras.
Technically, the DS8 shares the advanced EMP2 platform with the new Peugeot 508-L. When polling the engines, it will fall back on the connected with the EAT8 1.6 PureTech 180 and 225 hp as the 2.0 BlueHDi 180. For companies DS offers the 1.5 BlueHDi 130 with the six-speed manual transmission. The manufacturer will rely heavily on the version E-Tense rechargeable hybrid of 250 hp,
