Geneva is still a living room where we can make discoveries with many small craftsmen, among the major builders and builders. Kyburz is a Swiss company specializing in electric vehicleswhose approach focuses on recovery. The eRod presented in the show looks at first a derivative of Lotus Seveneven easier than the Caterhams.
The tubular chassis is also visible as with an Ariel Atom, with side protection and a windshield optionally added. The proportions, however, differ a little from the famous Englishmen. The car is shorter, but also wider. It also offers a generous space for passengers. It must be said that the mechanical part takes up little space. The eRod is powered by an electric motor located on the rear axle.
It develops 45 kW, 61 hp and 140 Nm. An achievement that seems modest, but sufficient for sensations, since the weight is limited to just 600 kg with batteries (400 kg without). , No acceleration values are given while the speed is limited to 120 km / h. With its 19.2 kWh battery, the eRod has a range of 183 km. A bit absolute, but it should be enough for the recreational use the majority of customers will have.
When the customer builds his car …
This vehicle received European approval in May 2018 and can therefore be used with the license B in road traffic. However, it is approved in the category of heavy four-wheelers, such as the small French roadster Secma F16. The car is already sold in France, with a seller in the region of Valencia (Charrin Négoce & Services) for the price of € 40,680.
An amount that seems quite high given the modest demands of the machine but can still be reduced by € 3,000 if the customer chooses to install his own car in the Kyburz premises on the outskirts of Zurich. A one-time experience spanning over a week, where the future owner is assisted by a company mechanic while the vehicle is inspected and tested at the end of assembly.
Finally, there are also two concepts derived from the eRod on the stand. The first is the offroad, a buggy that uses the same engine, but naturally higher on the legs and equipped for off-road use. The second, called Race, is, as the name implies, an oriented route and has a motor with 150 kW power, ie 204 ch. The maximum speed is then 200 km / h.
